Kingston South End
Ascent South End is a 24-story high rise building with 324 luxury residential apartments. The development includes 470 parking spaces, 20% of which are equipped with EV chargers. The building also contains approximately 13,000 NSF of premier ground floor retail space, including one of Charlotte’s only approved mid-block drive-through streets available for tenant use.
Developed by Greystar in concert with Whitepoint Partners, Ascent South End sits at the corner of South Boulevard and Kingston Avenue in the heart of Charlotte’s rapidly evolving South End, adjacent to the Blue Line Light Rail. The project site plan is thoughtfully designed to provide outdoor communal space for a nearby repurposed historic artisan building and a future neighboring office development.
Ascent South End’s palette of brick masonry and metal acknowledges the neighborhood’s history as an early industrial mill district. The building’s interiors, designed by EoA Group, build upon this inspiration with brick masonry, concrete, and a deep crimson color palette for a seamless transition from inside to out. The rich materials and colors are juxtaposed with gold and brass accents intended to recall Charlotte’s days as the country’s former gold mining capital. The building is amenitized with a live-work-play mentality in mind, including extensive communal gathering spaces, co-working offices, and a fitness center all overlooking a lushly planted pool deck with a fire sculpture. The elevated courtyard also includes outdoor dining spaces, a yoga area, and a pool deck that dramatically cantilevers out from the building. A further terrace atop the tower, furnished with hammocks, fire pits, and a sky bar, provides added spaces for events and general recreation.
