Assad is a Project Manager at R2L with prior experience in hospitality, office, education, planning, multifamily, and mixed-use projects. Assad was born and raised in Amman, Jordan, before moving stateside to attend school at the University of Virginia, where he received his bachelors degree in Architecture. He later received his masters degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute’s Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center, while continuing to work part-time. Assad is passionate about understanding the evolution of urban contexts, navigating design at different scales, and the rich layering of historic and contemporary architecture. He focused his masters thesis research on student housing and educational campus design within the city. Assad approaches coffee, beer, and ice cream with the same level of rigor. When not working, he can be found practicing photography, cooking with his wife Hillary, and catering to his other boss – Oshie the goldendoodle
